Transition Management

When a senior executive leaves an association, the organization can undergo a traumatic transition. A seasoned professional with transition experience can provide important skills and give the direction and guidance necessary to help the organization continue to operate effectively. If the executive's departure occurs when the association is simultaneously experiencing significant operational or financial difficulties, reliance on an executive with turnaround experience and expertise can dramatically improve the situation.

John Swinburn, president of Challenge Management, Inc., has experience helping associations get back on track. He has the knowledge, skills, and drive to quickly assess the association's situation, create a plan for maintenance or recovery, and direct the process. If the association is in crisis, he will make and implement quick decisions, make tough choices, and take the steps necessary to bring about the changes that are necessary to ensure the health of the organization, all while collaborating in close partnership with the association's governing body. Working with his team of association professionals and, if appropriate, your current staff, he will develop and implement processes and procedures to stabilize the organization and provide a solid foundation upon which to build.

If you would like to discuss your association's need for transition management, contact John Swinburn, in complete confidence, at 972/755-2560, extension 11.

Transition Services

The transition services we provide depend on the situation we find when we assess your association. If the CEO has departed, we assure remaining staff that a comprehensive plan is under priority development and that we will keep them abreast every step of the way. If the transition is in a senior-level slot that is crucial to the CEO, we help the CEO focus on his or her primary functions by removing the worry of getting the job done.

We take advantage of the opportunity...and that's what a transition is...to evaluate how the change that is taking place can best position the association for the future. Most importantly of all, we give everyone involved a sense of relief that, despite the change in personnel, the organization will continue to thrive and, in fact, may even get better. But our services are not purely motivational. They are, first and foremost, practical and tactical and result-driven. Let's talk, before you have a need for immediate transitional assistance.
